WELCOME TO ESTONIA

Estonia is a maritime country in the Baltic region of Northern Europe.  It is bordered to the north by the Gulf of Finland, to the west by the Baltic Sea, to the south by Latvia, and to the east by Lake Peipus and Russia.  Across the Baltic Sea lies Sweden in the west and Finland in the north. The territory of Estonia consists of a mainland and 2,222 islands in the Baltic Sea, covering 45,339 km2 of land and water.

Sail racing in Estonia started in Pärnu. The year was 1883. Tallinn has hosted the Sailing Regatta of the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980, we have organized many world class title races. Offshore sailing, competition sports and cruising have been developing the most during the twenty seven years of independence time of the Republic of Estonia. The excellent level of Estonian offshore sailors has been displayed at the recent ORC title regattas.

Considering the organizers’ experience to host and held large and high level regattas, and the active ORC fleets of Estonia and the neighbouring countries – Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Denmark, Germany, we find it likely to be a well attended championship. The goal of the organisers is to end up with a minimum of 100 boats participating. Certainly, we are expecting a considerable amount of the competitors  also from the neighbouring country Russia as a large number of them have been participating the largest Estonian Offshore Regatta – Moonsund regatta, yearly.

Besides all aspects expected from the race center, there’s a hotel complex with 270 rooms located at the venue – 2 minutes walk from the marina. And last but not least, cost of living is somewhat less expensive in Estonia than average in EU.
